Tuition Fees and Grants

The Singapore Government supports full-time undergraduate students by providing a Tuition Grant to eligible students. This makes studying at SMU affordable.

Eligible Singapore Citizens will automatically receive a Tuition Grant when they commence their studies. Singapore Permanent Residents and International Students are required to apply for a Tuition Grant, register on the MOE's TGOnline portal, and sign a Tuition Grant Agreement. They are also required to work in a Singapore entity for three years upon graduation from SMU. Students who are not eligible for or choose not to take up the Tuition Grant will pay non-subsidised fees and will not be bound by the 3-year work obligation.

Financial Aid

To assist students with their tuition fees and living expenses, we have in place a comprehensive financial aid initiative consisting of generous tuition fee loan schemes, bursaries, and a student employment scheme. These schemes are open to students who are on the Singapore Government tuition grant. Financial aid will not be available to those who are not eligible for the tuition grant or choose not to apply for it.
